Meet Aaron Eleazer, CPRS, RS, WPE Facilitator Program Specialist, Employment & Training Services Team.
What Is Your Role at FCWS?
As a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and Re-entry Specialist, I support jobseekers in recovery and those who are justice-impacted as they receive employment services through Resilient Frederick County (RFC). I facilitate programs that foster a space for growth and provide hope to individuals facing challenges, helping to support their occupational growth.
What Do You Enjoy Most About Your Work?
What I enjoy most would have to be facilitating groups and seeing people grow along their path. Watching people overcome challenges and setbacks always bring me joy!
What Does “Workforce Development” Mean to You Personally?
To me it means growth! As long as you're willing and able, you give yourself a chance to grow through professional development, on-the-job training and conflict resolution skills. You can contribute and develop yourself personally through work.
Share One Accomplishment, Project, or Moment That Makes You Proud of the Work You Do.
A project that I'm most proud of would have to be the Recovery to Work Academy. We as a team have put a lot into it over the years and it reminds me daily of the impact of how meaningful employment can truly help while in recovery.
What Is One Thing People Might Be Surprised to Learn About Your Role?
One surprising thing about my role, is using my experience doesn't mean as much as meeting a person where they’re at in their job search. That was a learning experience for me that's been very useful in how I interact with jobseekers and coworkers.
What Is Your Top Career or Workforce Tip?
Get credentialed—but more importantly, train your emotional intelligence daily. Hard Skills can get you the job, but Soft Skills will keep you the job.
