Meet Kara Fritz, MPA, CWDP, Manager of Youth Programs and Talent Pipeline Development.
What Is Your Role at FCWS?
I provide leadership and support to the Youth and Young Adult team at Workforce Services. Our team is focused on serving youth and young adults as they explore careers, select career pathways, complete career related training, and look for employment.
What Do You Enjoy Most About Your Work?
I most enjoy seeing people grow and develop. It excites me to see members of my team grow in their roles and to see young adults in our community connect their interests to careers and gain new skills that will prepare them for success in the workforce.
What Does “Workforce Development” Mean to You Personally?
Workforce Development is about investing in people. Our goal is to help make sure businesses and workers are prepared to meet the workplace demands of the present and the future. It's helping businesses find employees with the right skill set, train existing employees as needs evolve, and ensuring access to a pipeline of qualified new talent to help them grow and expand. It's also about job seekers; helping them understand how their skills and interests can be used in local businesses and helping them gain the skills they need to earn a living wage. Workforce Development relies on relationships and partnership between business and industry, educational institutions, government entities, and job seekers.
What Is Your Top Career or Workforce Tip?
Stay curious and open to learning. Curiosity could lead to gaining a new skill or credential that could help you grow in your current role, or it could lead to a job in an industry you never considered before.
