How Frederick County Workforce Services Supports Youth and Young Adults
By Janelle Grimes, Program Specialist, Youth and Young Adults
Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS) strives to serve the mission of being a leader in workforce development for Frederick County and contributing to the economic prosperity of the community. But why is that important to youth and young adults? The importance of early career development for youth and young adults is to be able to locate a career of interest and enjoying what you do, however, that may take some work to define.
Services for Youth and Young Adults:
FCWS offers a variety of programs and resources for youth and young adults ages 14 to 24, including:
Career exploration
Resume and interview workshops
Summer employment
Occupational training assistance
Apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship programs
We also have partnerships with Frederick County Public Schools, Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County, Frederick 12-to-24 Collaborative... and many more!
Impacts:
FCWS plays a vital role in supporting the youth community by reducing unemployment, fostering economic development, and strengthening the local workforce. Through its diverse programs, FCWS helps young individuals explore career paths, prepare for employment, and receive the training they need to develop essential skills and thrive in today’s job market.
