Job Search and Career Resources

  • Access free, self-paced training through through SkillUP Frederick County! You can also earn a certificate for some of the trainings!

  • Create a profile and apply for job openings in Frederick County through the Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE). You will also need an MWE profile for your Unemployment Insurance benefits.

Resilient Frederick County (RFC)

Access Personalized Career Support

Workforce Services offers access personalized assistance with career decision-making through the support of dedicated case managers. This support could include career exploration, information on careers in Frederick County’s high-growth, high-demand industries, and assistance with job preparation. Below is information about our key programs:

Elevate: Supporting Adult Career Development

  • Designed for adults 18 and older who are seeking structured guidance on determining and moving toward career goals. This session will provide an overview of our newly named Elevate program. We will explain to participants the three phases of our career case management, covering eligibility requirements and how to enroll. Want to learn more? Register to attend the Elevate Information Session. If you are unable to participate in an information session, complete an inquiry form and a staff member will reach out to you.

Catalyst: Career Navigation for Young Adults

  • Catalyst provides eligible young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 with individualized career services. Participants will partner with an experienced career specialist to develop and implement a plan to reach educational and employment goals. The program offers support with career exploration, preparation, and training. Interested individuals should attend a Catalyst Information Session or complete an inquiry form and a staff member will reach out to you.

Resources Available Through the State of Maryland

Unemployment Insurance (UI) Benefits:

Know when and how to submit a claim for your UI benefits. The Division of Unemployment Insurance, through the Maryland Department of Labor, has the most updated news and information regarding UI claims and benefits.

To contact the Division of Unemployment Insurance, employers should call 410.949.0033 and claimants should call 667.207.6520. The Interactive Voice Response (IVR) can also be accessed by calling 410.949.0022 or 1.800.827.4839 – follow instructions and prompts carefully.

*IMPORTANT: Please do not compare your UI situation with a coworker, family, or friend. UI benefits are determined based on each person’s unique circumstances and past work history. Follow the UI guide and the phone numbers above for directions or to connect directly for any questions you may have.

Health Insurance:

If you are in between jobs and need to secure health insurance for you and your family, Maryland Health Connection (MHC) offers options that may work for you.  Check out their FAQs to learn how you can find cost-effective health insurance plan options.  HealthCare Access Maryland (HCAM) provides enrollment assistance and other services in the Frederick County area on behalf of MHC.  Request a representative to contact you for assistance.
