Frederick County Government - Inspector I-II-Construction Management

Salary Range: $24.80-$45.12 hourly

Full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Non-exempt (compensatory and/or overtime eligible); full benefits

This technical position is responsible for inspecting construction related projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract documents. The inspector will perform inspection of commercial buildings, storm water management facilities, site development, parkland development, roads and bridges, and other County owned assets. Supervision is received from the Program Manager.

NOTE: The upper pay range reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy. For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate, with limited exception.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee construction of bridges and roadway capital improvement projects

  • Ensure contractors perform construction work in accordance with contract documents

  • Coordinate with contractors, architects and engineers in making field corrections and changes from plans and specifications

  • Check supplies, materials and equipment against the specifications and for defects or damages

  • Check plans and specifications for construction elevation and line

  • Prepare and submit project reports and records of work performed

  • Document and administer all project records (e.g. logs, RFI's, RFP's, requisitions, etc.) on projects assigned

  • Perform other related duties as required
