Frederick County’s Childcare Initiative, led by Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS) and the Division of Family Services (DFS), connects childcare employers to trained candidates, supports staff recertification, and provides advancement opportunities that strengthen retention. 

Recent Success for Local Employers

Young Horizon’s School 
Congratulations to Young Horizon’s School on the opening of their new childcare facility! County Executive Jessica Fitzwater, the Economic Opportunity Division, the Chamber of Commerce, and other community partners attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting Frederick County’s commitment to a thriving childcare sector. 

Job Fair Hiring 
At our Childcare & Youth Services Job Fair, several participants from FCWS’ sponsored 90-hour Child Care Certification cohort secured interviews, and one has already started full-time employment at Kiddie Academy shortly after the event. 

Licensed Family-Owned Childcare Businesses 
Four participants have successfully earned licenses to open family-owned childcare businesses in Frederick County, expanding capacity and supporting local entrepreneurship.
