Youth WORKS! 2017 Summer Jobs Program

Monday, July 10 – Friday, August 18, 2017

Are you a youth between the ages of 14 and 21, living in Frederick County and looking for a summer job? The Youth WORKS! 2017 Summer Jobs Program may be perfect for you! For six weeks this summer you can earn a paycheck, learn valuable new skills, and get that job experience for your resume! Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements listed below:

ELIGIBILITY
Students eligible to apply for this program must be Frederick County residents between the ages of 14 and 21 with one (or more) of the following barriers to employment:

  • Low-income family status
  • Possessing one or more disabilities
  • Receiving assistance from Social Services
  • Enrolled in the Foster Care system
  • Connected with the juvenile justice system
  • Participating in Special Education or Directed-level classes

EXAMPLES OF POSSIBLE POSITIONS
• Summer Camp Program Aide
• Administrative Assistant
• Custodial Assistant
• Retail Assistant
• Library Aide
• Farm & Nursery Helper
• and many more!

APPLICATION PROCESS will open on February 6, 2017.

Applications for the Youth WORKS! 2017 Summer Jobs Program will be completed ONLINE. The steps for applying are as follows:

Step 1: Complete an online application. (Will open on February 6, 2017 and close on April 15, 2017.)

Step 2Within 5-7 business days after submitting your online application, you will receive an email confirmation from FCWS staff verifying your eligibility and listing the documents that you need to provide to complete your application by a specified deadline. Submission of your documentation by the specified deadline is necessary to remain eligible to participate!

Step 3: Attend a training workshop PRIOR to interviews – this is mandatory! After submitting your application, you will receive an email invitation to schedule your training. Training workshops will be held at various times during non-school hours and will last approximately 3 hours.

Step 4: Interview with employers! Every applicant that meets eligibility AND attends a training workshop will be guaranteed at least one interview with a prospective employer.

Note: Completing the above process does NOT guarantee a Youth WORKS! summer job. In the event of limited funding, priority will be given to youth who have not previously participated in this program.
