Frederick County Workforce Services has several job training opportunities available for Frederick County youth.
One of the most popular opportunities is the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program. This program offers students the opportunity to work for an employer for a three month training period. The goal is to learn the skills necessary to perform the job with the company beyond the three-month training period. Interested students can contact the OJT Coordinator, Max Douge at mdouge@frederickcountymd.gov or (301) 600-2523.
Apprenticeship programs are another option for those seeking training along with education. “Sponsors” of apprenticeship programs are local businesses who participate in the program. There are a number of apprenticeship programs in the Frederick area. For a complete listing or additional information, the Department of Labor website has extensive information on this opportunity.
Students 18 and over are encouraged to register into our WIA program. Registering into WIA allows students to have access to more intensive job coaching, resume/interviewing services, and job training opportunities (paid training through FCWS). Students wishing to register into WIA should plan to attend a FCWS Orientation session to learn more.
